So the Freelancers’s portal for the New York Times is a bit old school. Super useful and better than pretty much every other freelancers system, but yeah, a touch dated.

One of the ways it’s dated, it doesn’t allow mobile browsers to log in.

Which, idk about y’all, but I’m often in the field and without the benefit of a traditional computer so that’s kind of a pain. I know this bugs other freelancers too, cause several folks have lamented to me that they sometimes let invoices pile up; they just can’t get to them. Well… worry no more. I’ve got a goofy work around. Load up the site in Google Chrome or Safari. For Chrome, tap the weird shit button (you know, the button where lazy developers hide all the weird functionality that they can’t be bothered to integrate into their app’s actual design. A developer’s junk drawer if you will): it’s a square with an arrow rising out of it. For Safari, tap the Aa button to the left of the URL. That’ll pop up a menu, scroll down a bit, tap Request Desktop Site. There you go. Easy peasy, log in from your phone, go get paid.
